As a teenager I watched my friends at church respond to altar calls, and repeat the prayer of salvation. But for some reason I did not, and at the time I didn't understand why, just that it didn't feel genuine. Finally, at the age of 14 I felt something pulling at my heart strings, drawing me to surrender my life to God. Years later I learned why this was, Jesus tells us in John 6:44 that no one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him.
